Some dogs have been through more in three years than most could imagine — and still choose love.

Reuben’s story

Reuben was cruelly abandoned by his former guardian after suffering severe neglect and abuse. When he was rescued, he had lost an eye and had a fractured leg after being hit by a car.

But that is not his story. That is just where his story began — because Reuben was finally safe.

He received all the medical care and love he so desperately needed and deserved. His injured eye was surgically removed (enucleation) to free him from pain.

His leg has healed perfectly. Today Reuben walks, runs and plays like any other joyful dog — with no limitations.

And then something very special happened: despite everything people had done to him, Reuben chose to trust people again. Surrounded by love, patience and care, he has blossomed into an incredibly loving and sociable dog who lights up every room he enters.

Character & nature

Reuben is a true gentleman with the kindest, gentlest soul.

With people he is pure love. He adores cuddles, enjoys gentle petting and wants nothing more than to be close to his person — a big, soft-hearted cuddle-bug with an enormous heart.

He has put behind him what should never have happened, and now gives people his full trust and love again. You will probably fall for this special dog in no time.

Getting along with dogs, cats and children

He is incredibly sociable and kind to all dogs, regardless of breed or size. From the tiniest puppy to the biggest giant, Reuben greets everyone with a happily wagging tail.

Reuben also gets on very well with cats and children and has a lovely bond with them.

Health

After a car accident, Reuben had a badly injured eye and a broken leg. The injured eye was surgically removed (enucleation) and his leg has healed completely. He walks, runs and plays, and has no limitations in everyday life.

Reuben doesn’t see himself as different because he lives with one beautiful eye — he sees the world with more joy and love than most. He is healthy, happy, playful and ready for his new life.

His new home

Reuben has survived the worst and is ready for the best: a loving forever family who will show him that love is safe and that he will never be hurt again.
